Podcast: Drayk Bowen on winning Butkus Award, preparing for ND career
Less than two weeks away from the beginning of the early signing period for the 2023 class and closing in on three weeks out from Notre Dame’s matchup with South Carolina in the Gator Bowl, Tyler James and Eric Hansen recorded another episode of the Inside ND Sports podcast.
Because it’s the final stretch in recruiting, they wanted to bring on newly crowned Butkus Award winner Drayk Bowen, the unquestioned leader of Notre Dame’s 2023 recruiting class.
Bowen, a four-star linebacker from Merrillville (Ind.) Andrean, discussed being named the Butkus Award winner for high school linebackers, connecting with former Notre Dame linebacker Jaylon Smith, Bowen's role as a leader of ND's recruiting class, the role NIL plays in recruiting, if he's ready to contribute at ND as a freshman, how he fits into the baseball program, his appreciation for defensive coordinator Al Golden and more.
