Sophomore safety Spencer Perry is transferring from Notre Dame.

The 6-2, 209-pounder announced his decision to leave the Irish program Thursday on Twitter, posting the following message.

“Thanks to The University of Notre Dame for opportunity to pursue my eduction and play football,” he said in a statement released on Twitter. “All the best to my advisors, professors, rector, teammates, coaches and the Fighting Irish fans. At this time, I am electing to transfer and continue my educational goals and football career elsewhere.”
