RECRUITMENT

POWER FIVE OFFERS: Georgia Tech, Tennessee

Originally committed to Georgia Southern and then Georiga Tech, Flemister flipped to Notre Dame on National Signing Day following a successful official visit the weekend of Jan. 26-28.

After running backs CJ Holmes and Deon McIntosh were dismissed from the team, Notre Dame set out to find a second 2018 running back and offered Flemister on Jan. 17 on an in-home visit with running backs coach Autry Denson.

Denson was the primary recruiter for Flemister to Notre Dame, with assistance coming from offensive coordinator Chip Long and head coach Brian Kelly.

NOTABLE

Born on June 20, 2000
First Georgia RB to sign with Notre Dame since Darius Walker in 2004
Led the state of Georgia in rushing yards in 2017
Also runs track at Pike Count participating in the 300m and 110, hurdles, long jump and 4X400 relay.

2018 PROJECTION

With Notre Dame's lack of depth at the position and Flemister's size and athleticism, he could make a quick run up the depth chart.

BGI ANALYSIS

“Flemister is one of the more intriguing players in this class. He was an average prospect as a junior, showing a straight ahead running style and a body that wasn’t big or strong enough to be a Notre Dame caliber player. He exploded as a senior, racking up a state-leading 2,348 yards to go with 35 rushing touchdowns. Flemister was bigger, stronger and far more explosive athletically in his final season at Pike County, which made him a dominant prep back.

He checked in this summer at 6-0 and 192 pounds, but with his frame he’ll add an easy 15-20 pounds. The Pike County runner likes to run through defenders more than he likes to make them miss, so that extra size and strength will make him even more effective running the ball. Flemister has strong agility and good balance, which combines with his ability to dip and rip through contact to make him highly effective as picking up yards after the initial hit.

Flemister’s biggest issue right now is his technique is all over the place. He’s inefficient at the snap and his tracks need more consistent work. Those are things a good coach can fix quickly, and once his technique improves his initial speed and power will improve, raising his overall level of play. It would not be a surprise if this late signee ends up being one of the biggest surprises in the class.” – BGI Football Analyst Bryan Driskell
