Notre Dame Commit Tracker: Week One

High schools across the country are gearing up for the start of their 2017 seasons and several Notre Dame commits and targets were in action this past Friday night.

Below you will find a recap of how those players performed. Be sure to check in to Blue & Gold Illustrated on Friday to check out where the rest of the 2018 and 2019 classes will be playing as more teams begin their season this week.

Derrik Allen — Marietta (Ga.) Lassiter

Last Week: Allen recorded 10-plus tackles, three pass breakups and an interception in Lassiter’s 45-21 victory over Alpharetta (Ga.) Johns Creek (0-1). The safety also had a 30-yard punt return.

Up Next: Lassiter (1-0) will be home this week to face Marietta (Ga.) Pope (0-0).

Jacob Lacey — Bowling Green (Ky.) South Warren

Last Week: Lacey and his South Warren team won 35-14 over Hopkinsville (Ky.) High (0-1). The defensive tackle recorded seven tackles including four for loss, one sack, two battled balls and a "bunch of pressures," according to his father David Lacey.

Up Next: South Warren (1-0) will play at Western Kentucky University this week against Bowling Green (Ky.) Warren Central (0-1).

Cole Mabry — Brentwood (Tenn.) High

Last Week: Brentwood and the Irish offensive tackle commit won 14-10 over Franklin (Tenn.) High (0-1), their No. 1 Rival and the home of Ohio State OT commit Max Wray.

Up Next: Brentwood (1-0) will be on the road facing Nashville (Tenn.) Cane Ridge (0-1)

Jahmir Smith — Sanford (N.C.) Lee County

Last Week: Smith rushed for 149 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries, per the Sanford Herald, in Lee County’s 35-0 win over Pittsboro (N.C.) Northwood (0-1).

Up next: Lee County (1-0) will travel to Holly Springs (N.C.) High (0-1).

Markese Stepp — Indianapolis Cathedral

Last Week: In his first regular season game since last year’s opener, Stepp rushed for 203 yards and three touchdowns on 18 carries in a 35-28 loss to Louisville St. Xavier (1-0). Stepp only carried the ball five times in three games last season dealing with a hamstring injury.

Up Next: Cathedral (0-1) will make their way to Michigan to face Detroit King (0-0).

Irish Targets

Tight end Tommy Tremble suited up for the first time against Norcross (Ga.) Wesleyan and made an impact on both sides in a 63-14 win against Atlanta Therrell. Tremble hauled in three catches for approximately 29 yards and a touchdown (per his HUDL) and recorded five tackles, 1.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery (per MaxPreps).

Local safety target Paul Moala recorded Mishawaka (Ind.) Penn's lone touchdown (34-yard catch) in a 12-7 loss to Valparaiso (Ind.) High.
