Commit No. 1 from the Irish Invasion is in for Notre Dame.
Chesterfield (Va.) Lloyd C Bird three-star athlete Jalen Elliott has given a verbal pledge to play at Notre Dame. Elliott, who is ranked as the No. 53 athlete in the country, is being recruited by the Irish to play safety.
He was offered by the Irish back on May 19, after defensive coordinator Brian VanGorder saw him workout in person.
"It's a blessing to have the offer from Notre Dame, and it's a school that I have to have near the top just from an academic standpoint. A degree from Notre Dame is very good when you're looking for jobs and stuff like that," Elliott said at the time.
The 6-1, 177-pound becomes the seventh commit in the class for the Irish. Both of his parents attended Virginia Tech, but he picked Notre Dame over the Hokies and offers from Auburn, Georgia, N.C. State, Georgia, Virginia and Maryland.
The rising senior threw for over 1,600 yards last season and was a state title winning quarterback. He was a Virginia High School League first-team Class 5-A all-state selection.
