Notre Dame has landed commit No. 4 from its huge Junior Day weekend.

Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas two-star linebacker Drew White gave a verbal pledge to the Irish just two days after receiving an offer from Notre Dame while in a meeting with head coach Brian Kelly.

“I loved it,” White said when asked about Notre Dame. “It’s different than other schools. It’s private. It’s Catholic. So it’s different — but it has all of that little things that stand out, especially with the sports being intertwined with the academics.”

White, who is ranked as just a two-star prospect, also held offers from Ohio State, LSU, Michigan, North Carolina State, Wisconsin and West Virginia. He posted a team-high 101 tackles and three sacks for a St. Thomas Aquinas squad that won the Class 7A state title this past season.

“I think I fit their defense really well,” White said. “Watching practice I could see that my school runs some similar things which was cool.”

White’s brother, Sean, is a quarterback at Auburn that was at one time being recruited by Notre Dame.

“I have always been a fan of Notre Dame, and that’s a team that I have always kind of followed,” White said. “I have watched them play on TV and they were really just interested in me and kept saying that they wanted to see me, and I have never really been to campus, so I wanted to get up there and see what the environment was like.”

The 6-1, 210-pound White becomes commit No. 8 in Notre Dame’s 2017 class, and joins quarterback Avery Davis, linebacker David Adams and defensive tackle Kurt Hinish as pledges from the past weekend.
