Editor's Note: This story has been updated to reflect Lafayette's announcement.

Notre Dame's trip to play a women's basketball game at Lafayette College on Thursday has been postponed due to health and safety protocols, the two programs announced.

A release from Lafayette indicated the healthy and safety protocol issues came from within its women's basketball program. Since the start COVID-19 pandemic, health and safety protocols have often been cited when players or coaches have been placed in quarantine or isolation.

The No. 5 Irish (7-1), coming off Sunday's 74-60 win over then-No. 3 UConn in Purcell Pavilion, were scheduled to play the Leopards (2-7) at the Kirby Sports Center in Easton, Pa., at 6 p.m. EST on Thursday. The game was postponed before the Irish left South Bend.

Per Notre Dame, the schools are looking at possible dates to reschedule the game. Lafayette is scheduled to play at Notre Dame during the 2023-24 season.

Notre Dame's home game against Merrimack (1-6) remains on the schedule for Saturday at 12 p.m. EST.
