Per his Twitter, Notre Dame has offered Mineral (Va.) Louisa County four-star 2019 athlete Brandon Smith.

The 6-3, 218-pounder was in South Bend today checking out the Irish program and working out in front of the staff. Smith also holds offers from Florida State, Georgia, Penn State, Virginia Tech, Vanderbilt and others.

Though listed at defensive end, Smith told Blue & Gold he is being recruited as a linebacker by the Irish. He worked out with linebackers coach Clark Lea today and enjoyed learning more about Lea and his coaching methods.

Notre Dame made a good impression on Smith today during the visit with their academic presentation and the football side of the program. He talked with Blue & Gold about the opportunties of each that Notre Dame can provide.

Brian Kelly extended the offer to Smith during a meeting after the workout which he appreciated given Kelly's status as the head coach.
