Earlier this week, the Notre Dame recruiting department sent out a batch of graphics to recruits across the country.

Several of the prospects who received the edits shared them on Twitter, including three-star 2018 defensive back Avonta “B.J.” Crim of Ocala (Fla.) Vanguard.

Crim, a former UCF commit, said he’s been talking with defensive coordinator Mike Elko for a while now, and is working on building a relationship with the Irish coaching staff.

According to Crim, the staff is just waiting on him to take a trip to South Bend before offering.

“They really want me to come down there and visit the school,” Crim said. “I know as soon as I step on campus that I’ll have the offer. They just want me to get there and see how the campus is.”

So far, Crim said he’s been impressed with what he’s seen from Elko and from Notre Dame as a whole.

"Coach Elko, he’s a good coach,” Crim said. “I like how he wants to use me at defensive back and how he uses his defensive backs. I feel like Notre Dame is a great program with the academics, and that’s just a big step for me.”

The 6-foot, 195 pound Crim doesn’t hold a ton of huge offers, but has been receiving interest from some big-time schools lately including 2016 national champion Clemson.

Notre Dame has also been showing significant interest in Crim, and the Florida talent said it’s a big deal just to know that Notre Dame is interested.

“It’s a blessing,” Crim said. “Every offer is a blessing and it’s all with God.”

Crim’s biggest offer at the moment is Louisville, along with schools like Ohio, Rutgers, Southern Miss, Troy, UCF and Wake Forest.

As mentioned, Crim believes he’ll land a Notre Dame offer as soon as he gets to South Bend for a visit, which he said will happen either next month or for an official visit during the Georgia game.

“I really want to get down there,” Crim said. “I want to see how the place is and see how home would really be like for four years. Getting that offer would be huge.”

If Notre Dame does eventually offer, Crim said the Irish would jump to the head of the pack.

“It would mean everything to me,” Crim said. “They’re number one on my recruiting board right now. I really like Notre Dame and getting an offer from them would be huge.”
