A few months ago, Notre Dame defensive line coach Mike Elston started communicating with Suwanee (Ga.) North Gwinnett weakside defensive end Jared Ivey.

However, one of Ivey's high school coaches, Eric Wright, got an opportunity at Notre Dame as a strength and conditioning intern. The NCAA passed a rule a couple years ago which doesn't allow colleges recruit a high school for two years if they hire a coach from that high school.
