WR Andrel Anthony Places Notre Dame In Top Four List

East Lansing (Mich.) High class of 2021 wide receiver Andrel Anthony is a longtime target for the Notre Dame coaching staff, and the Fighting Irish just got one step closer to landing his commitment.

The 6-2, 175-pounder announced a top four schools list of Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame and Penn State on Saturday.

Anthony told Rivals’ Josh Helmholdt earlier this month that he doesn't have a timetable set for his commitment, but a commitment this summer is “very likely.”

The Fighting Irish are a top school for Anthony.

“Fortunately, I visited a lot of places, so I am just going to have to go off that,” Anthony said. “For the places I haven’t visited, I know what most schools have to offer. Every place has facilities, but it’s really about the people there at this point.”

There are five FutureCast picks in for Anthony, and all peg him to land with the Michigan State Spartans.

Anthony visited Notre Dame twice last fall. He made it in for the New Mexico game, and a few days afterwards received an offer from the Fighting Irish. He returned a couple months later for Notre Dame’s narrow triumph over Virginia Tech.

“It was awesome,” Anthony told BlueandGold.com following the visit. “I appreciated all of the coaches talking to me. It was a great atmosphere at Notre Dame, like it always is.”

Anthony also camped at Notre Dame last summer.

Anthony had a stellar junior season, catching 54 passes for 954 yards and nine touchdowns. Per East Lansing High, Anthony broke the school record for most receiving yards in a game (183) and in a season (954) and tied for most receiving touchdowns in a season (nine).

Anthony is listed with a 5.7 recruit ranking, the highest designation for a three-star prospect, and is the No. 15 player in the state of Michigan and No. 81 wide receiver in the country.
