Snoqualmie (Wash.) Mount Si 2018 wide receiver/defensive back Jesiah Irish has put himself on the map with the Notre Dame coaching staff.

Irish camped in South Bend for a few days earlier this week, and said he feels like he made a big impression on the coaching staff.

“I just did my thing at the camp and opened some coach’s eyes,” Irish said. "I’ve been talking to them for the past couple days and that’s been really cool.”

Irish worked out at wide receiver during the camp, but said the coaching staff also likes what he has to offer at defensive back.

Since he left campus, Irish said he’s been speaking with receivers coach DelVaughn Alexander and defensive backs coach Todd Lyght.

Working with Alexander during the camp, Irish said, was a memorable experience.

“It was really cool being out there,” Irish said. “I got to know (Notre Dame wide receiver commit) Micah Jones pretty well. It was cool going through the route tree and talking with him, and listening to Coach Alexander and his philosophies. It was just a cool experience being up there.”

Irish added that Alexander’s coaching style and approach to the camp made it easy to learn from him while on campus.

“I really like him,” Irish said. “He’s really detail oriented.”

According to Irish, during the camps in South Bend, the prospects are treated as if they’re already players at Notre Dame, and learn exactly what will be expected of them should they wind up in South Bend.

“It was really cool just to see his whole coaching theory and his expectations for guys,” Irish said. “It was really cool be treated like his players are treated. That was a really good feeling.”

Irish is not the most high-profile recruit in the country, and right now only holds offers from BYU, Idaho, Montana State and Weber State.

However, the Notre Dame staff told him they’d certainly be in touch going forward.

“They said they really like me but they have a couple other wide receivers they might get,” Irish said. “But if not, I’m kind of next in the hole. We’ll kind of see how the summer goes, but Coach Lyght said they’re going to keep recruiting me.”

If that offer ever does come, Irish said it would be a huge achievement for him.

“That would be really cool,” Irish said. “I’ve been a fan since I was really little, so that would be a big accomplishment for me.”
