Hank Bachmeier, a 2019 dual threat QB from Murietta (Calif.) Murietta Valley will get his first look at Notre Dame this weekend when the Irish host Stanford.

Bachmeier, who holds an early offer from Colorado, is just a sophomore in high school, and does not yet hold a Notre Dame offer, but is getting plenty of early attention from several major schools.

Notre Dame is one of those programs showing early interest in Bachmeier, and he said he’s humbled just to have the chance to visit.

“It’s such to honor to even be going out there,” Bachmeier said. “To even have a little bit of their attention is such an honor, and I’m excited about going up there.”

This will be Bachmeier’s first time seeing Notre Dame, but as it turns out, he’s been keeping an eye on the Irish for some time now.

“I’m very excited,” Bachmeier said. “Notre Dame was my grandfather’s favorite school, so I’ve been paying attention to Notre Dame since I was a little kid. They’re such a traditional school and are always a powerhouse. I’m really excited to go check it out.”

So Bachmeier has heard plenty about what Notre Dame has to offer, but said he’s looking forward to checking things out himself.

“My coach has talked to (offensive coordinator) Coach (Mike) Sanford a little bit,” Hank Bachmeier said. “They invited me out, and I really just wanted to check out the school and see how that is.”

A talented QB, Bachmeier has thrown for more than 1,700 yards and 20 touchdowns through six games in 2016, while adding more than 300 rushing yards.

Bachmeier said he has taken notice of the success Notre Dame QB DeShone Kizer has had so far in 2016, adding that he’s excited by the thought of playing for Sanford and head coach Brian Kelly.

“DeShone and Malik (Zaire) are great quarterbacks,” Bachmeier said. “What coach Kelly and Coach Denson have done, their track record for quarterbacks speaks for itself and I’m just honored to be getting a little bit of their attention.”

Off the field, Bahcmeier said he is a dedicated student, and academics will play a big role in his final decision.
