Notre Dame offered Columbia (S.C.) Spring Valley linebacker Channing Tindall in early March and the staff continues to communicate with the three-star junior.

At the Rivals 3 Strip Camp in Charlotte on Sunday, the 6-foot-2, 206-pounder listed Notre Dame along with South Carolina, Georgia, Florida and Auburn as programs he felt are making him a priority at this point in his recruitment.

“I saw Coach [Clark] Lea not too long ago,” Tindall said. “I contact him about once a week. We have a pretty good relationship.

“He talks about how he’s going to put me as like an end box linebacker because they are losing them this year and if I went there I could get a great education and possibly make it to the NFL.”

The junior was already familiar with Lea and Irish defensive coordinator Mike Elko while they were at Wake Forest and offered Tindall. After receiving the offer from Notre Dame Tindall told Blue & Gold he was hoping to visit South Bend to check out the program for himself. He is planning to do so this summer.

“I personally want to see exactly how they are using their linebackers,” Tindall explained. “I want to tour the campus and see all they have to offer.

“My favorite player from college actually went there in Jaylon Smith.”

Tindall is eyeing a commitment this fall. He also holds offers from Alabama, LSU, North Carolina, Virginia Tech and Arkansas. An official visit to Alabama was another potential trip Tindall mentioned.

“Having a good relationship with the staff,” Tindall said of what he is looking for in making the decision. “I want someone I can talk to inside and outside the field. Also, great academics as well. It’s a four-year decision, but really it’s a lifetime decision. So, somewhere I really can be successful outside of college if things don’t work out.

“I want to make my decision within the first two or three games into the college season. I want to major in like an exercise kinesiology.”

During his junior season Tindall recorded 121 total tackles this past season including 15 for loss and added eight sacks.

“I am very aggressive and physical, which the coaches like,” Tindall told Blue & Gold in March. “Coaches also love my athleticism and the fact that I change direction well and can run sideline to sideline. I just love getting downhill and hitting, which is a good thing because my position coach, Coach Moton, expects it on every play.”

Tindall is ranked as the No. 41 outside linebacker in the 2018 class and the No. 8 player in South Carolina.
