Solomon Tuliaupupu is taking his time.

Tuliaupupu, the No.4 inside linebacker in the class of 2018, said over the last year or so of his recruitment, he wants to see as many schools as possible before coming up with a final list.

The Rivals100 four-star prospect out of Claremont (Calif.) High has visited USC and UCLA this season, and mentioned schools like Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon, and of course Notre Dame, among others on a list of schools he hopes to visit soon.

With the Irish, Tuliaupupu said he hears from people all over about what kind of place Notre Dame is.

“It’s a legendary place,” Tuliaupupu stated. “There’s so much tradition. My cousin (USC OL Viane Talamaivao) told me when he played there, he could feel the energy. That’s kind of what I want to go through. I want to experience as much as I can throughout this process.”

The four-star said he hears from the Notre Dame coaching staff regularly, and already has a solid relationship with linebackers Coach Mike Elston, and hopes to expand that relationship as signing day 2018 gets closer.

“Notre Dame is a huge football school,” Tuliaupupu explained. “I have a great relationship with their linebackers coach, and I hope to start building that relationship even more with them.”

But it’s not just the football side of things attracting the elite linebacker to South Bend. Tuliaupupu is big on academics, and said the opportunities that would come with a Notre Dame degree are hard to look past.

“Notre Dame is definitely a great school,” Tuliaupupu said. “I know they’ll definitely take care of my future after football. I’m highly interested in them. Me and my dad are actually talking a little bit about them, my future after football, and they’re definitely a great choice.”

“They have a lot of connections,” the four-star continued. “All the graduates are taken care of, no matter what. Everyone tells me that there’s no Notre Dame grad without a job right now. It’s definitely a great school for the future.”

So the interest is there for Tuliaupupu, but for right now, he said he’s just focusing on collecting all the information he can to help him make the right decision down the road.

“Probably senior year, I’ll start making my list,” Tuliaupupu said. “But as of right now, I just want to focus on visiting as many schools as I can, and getting to know myself and what’s best for my future.”
