Report: Kerry Cooks To Oklahoma
According to a Sunday report from Oklahoma's The Football Brainiacs.com an online site covering the Sooners, Notre Dame defensive backs coach Kerry Cooks will be accepting a position with head coach Bob Stoops' program.

Wrote TFB, "Cooks is expected to announce his departure from Notre Dame, and his acceptance of the Oklahoma secondary coaching position sometime after National Signing Day (Feb. 4)."
Blue & Gold Illustrated's Andrew Ivins learned from a source earlier in the day that former Notre Dame safety recruit and commit Prentice McKinney - who then pledged to North Carolina in January - took an official visit to Oklahoma this weekend.
The source said that the Sooners coaching staff told McKinney that a new defensive backs coach was on the way, one whom McKinney knows. McKinney and Cooks are both Dallas area natives, and Cooks ardently recruited McKinney to play at Notre Dame.
Upon accepting the Notre Dame head coaching job in December 2009, Brian Kelly hired Cooks from the University of Wisconsin to be his outside linebackers coach. The following year Cooks moved to the defensive backfield - where he was a former All-Big Ten safety at Iowa and played in the NFL - to instruct the cornerbacks. In 2012-13 he was named co-defensive coordinator to Bob Diaco (who became head coach at Connecticut last season) and in 2014, with Brian VanGorder hired as the new defensive coordinator, Cooks was tabbed to handle the entire secondary but no longer had the co-coordinator title.
Last winter, Rivals.com named Cooks and Irish offensive line coach Harry Hiestand among its top 25 recruiters in the country. The recognition for Cooks came on the strength of Notre Dame signing three players from Texas, lineman Grant Blankenship, linebacker Kolin Hill and cornerback Nick Watkins.
"We got three players from Texas, all of them offered by the University of Texas," said Kelly on 2014 Signing Day. "I don't know if that happens very often, but we're very fortunate and it's a great area for us."
Said Rivals.com: "The Irish sign highly ranked prospects every February, but Cooks did something unique by making waves in Texas. That feat is miles more impressive than bringing a handful of four-stars to South Bend."
This year, Cooks also made inroads in Louisiana with the signing of early enrollee defensive lineman Jerry Tillery and verbally committed defensive end Bo Wallace. The Irish had not landed anyone from Louisiana since 1999.
