Brian Polian is coming back to Notre Dame, according to a report by Football Scoop.

Polian coached the special teams and various linebacker positions for the Irish from 2005-09 under former head coach Charlie Weis.

Polian was the head coach at Nevada from 2013 through this past season, after which he was fired. The 41-year-old went 23-27 in his four seasons with the Wolf Pack, including a 5-7 finish in 2016.

It is unknown at this time what position Polian will coach with the Irish. Notre Dame is currently without a tight ends coach and special teams coordinator after firing Scott Booker this week. Head coach Brian Kelly is also in search of an offensive coordinator after the departure of Mike Sanford to Western Kentucky.
