Notre Dame assistant Martin Ingelsby officially earning the Delaware head coaching position on Tuesday was no shocker. The 13-year Irish assistant was a great fit for the Blue Hens, had earned a shot over time at his first head coaching role, and had been tied to the opening for a while.

Head coach Mike Brey's program losing another assistant on Tuesday, however, was a bit of a surprise.

As first reported by ESPN's Jeff Borzello, Notre Dame assistant Anthony Solomon has accepted the same position at Georgetown under John Thompson III.

The Hoyas are 264-133 overall under Thompson III since he joined the program as head coach starting with the 2004-05 season.

Solomon had worked under Brey since May 2008, after serving as head coach at St. Bonaventure from 2002-03 through the 2006-07 season. Prior to his tenure at St. Bonaventure, he worked under Brey for Notre Dame from 2000-03 as an assistant.

The former Irish assistant coach worked with both the Notre Dame guards and bigs, as well as spearheaded many of the Irish's recruiting efforts. Solomon was the lead recruiter on several of the Irish's 2017 targets.

Notre Dame now has two openings in assistant coaching slots with Ingelsby and Solomon exiting the program. Only assistant Rod Balanis remains.
