Quarterback recruiting has taken another turn for the Irish. And this time, it’s another in the right direction.
After it nearly missed out on a passer in the 2023 class entirely, Notre Dame’s recent quarterback commit, Kenny Minchey, made his debut at No. 207 overall in the latest Rivals250 rankings. In addition, Minchey has been increased to a four-star with a 5.8 rating, which projects as an All-America candidate.
Minchey’s rise comes after a small but effective sample size during his senior season. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound passer completed 67-99 passes (67.7%) for 1,042 yards, 15 passing touchdowns and 1 interception in just six — four full — games. Minchey missed six games for Hendersonville (Tenn.) Pope John Paul II due to a shoulder injury.
Besides Minchey, two other commits returned to the top 250, and two others received bumps in the rankings. Meanwhile, four players saw minor movement, and nine took noticeable tumbles. Rivals last updated its rankings in August, so this update was the first to account for the senior seasons of the 2023 recruits.
With Tuesday's update, Notre Dame currently has 16 commitments ranked in the Rivals250 with six of them inside the top 100. It had 15 in the Rivals250 prior to this week.
Position rankings for prospects not in the Rivals250 will be released Wednesday for offensive players and Thursday for defensive players.
Here’s how the Irish commits fared in the updated Rivals250.
