Perkins reopens recruitment

After giving Notre Dame a verbal commitment at a press conference over the summer, David Perkins has decided to reopen his recruitment.
Perkins, a four-star athlete from South Bend, Ind., confirmed the news via text message Monday night but declined to comment more on the circumstances or what programs he would consider moving forward.

“Not right now,” Perkins said. “Got a bunch of stuff going on man.”
Perkins had been considering scholarship offers from Arizona, Cincinnati, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Louisville, Michigan State, Minnesota, Mississippi State, Purdue, Syracuse and Tennessee pervious to his initial commitment.
Finalists at the time were Syracuse, Tennessee, Michigan State and Mississippi State.
Notre Dame projected the 6-foot-2, 209-pound prospect at outside linebacker. He plays that and running back at Washington High School, which will play in a sectional final against Mishawaka on Friday.
Perkins rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown on five carries last week. He also pitched in a 95-yard touchdown reception.
