In its last two games, Michigan has lost 69 yards rushing on 65 carries. Safe to say, the Wolverines struggled against Nebraska nearly as much as they did against Michigan State a week earlier. Michigan matched its 13 points with 13 first downs and converted just 3-of-15 third downs.

Yet the Wolverines led until the final two minutes when the Cornhuskers scored a touchdown to complete a 75-yard drive for the victory in Ann Arbor.

Purdue (1-8): L 38-14 vs. Iowa

This week: at Penn State

This contest was not as close as the scoreboard indicates. Purdue notched a 44-yard touchdown pass against Iowa's second-string with less than a minute remaining. The Hawkeyes offense overpowered Purdue for 31 unanswered points.

Iowa gained 6.1 yards per rush on its way to 318 rushing yards. Two Purdue quarterbacks -- starter Danny Etling and reserve Austin Appleby -- combined for 20-of-34 passing for 213 yards.

Oklahoma (7-2): L 41-12 to No. 6 Baylor

BCS ranking: Fell from No. 10 to No. 18 after its second loss of the season

This week: vs. Iowa State

After an unorthodox opening, which led to a 5-3 Sooner lead, Baylor scored 28 unanswered points. The Bears are widely praised for their offense, but the Baylor defense held Oklahoma to 237 total yards, including 2.6 yards per rush.

Quarterback Blake Bell struggled to 15-of-35 passing and only five rushing yards. Trevor Knight took a few snaps in Bell's stead, never attempting a pass but gaining 17 yards on the ground on five carries.

Arizona State (7-2): W 20-19 vs. Utah

This week: vs. Oregon State

Trailing 19-7 entering the fourth quarter, Arizona State needed two Taylor Kelly scores -- one through the air and one on the ground -- to squeak by the Utah squad that handed Stanford its sole loss of the season.

Kelly finished with only 144 passing yards as the Sun Devils failed to convert 10 of their 13 third downs and never found consistency against the Utes. Running back Marion Grice gained 136 yards on 20 carries.

USC (7-3): W 62-28 at Cal

This week: vs. No. 4 Stanford

USC won its fourth Pac-12 game in a row under interim head coach Ed Orgeron, blowing Cal out of the water with a 21-0 first-quarter lead and a 41-14 halftime advantage. Javorius Allen and Nelson Agholor took turns providing the big bangs. Agholor returned two punts -- 75 yards and 93 yards -- for touchdowns. Allen had touchdown runs of 43 and 79 yards, and a touchdown reception of 57 yards.

Air Force (2-8): L 45-37 at New Mexico

Air Force continues to look for its first conference victory after falling to New Mexico on Friday. The Falcons led 28-27 midway through the third quarter and came a blocked extra point away from tying the game early in the fourth quarter before two Lobos scores put the game out of reach.

Navy (5-4): W 42-28 vs. Hawaii

This week: vs. South Alabama

While Hawaii used a balanced attack to keep up with the Midshipmen for most of the game, Navy relied on its ground attack to the tune of 383 rushing yards and a 6.3-yard average per carry. The Warriors did themselves few favors, missing two field goals in the first half after long drives.

Navy quarterback Keenan Reynolds ran for 226 yards and four touchdowns. Reynolds added another score through the air, completing a 26-yard pass to Geoffrey Whiteside.

Pittsburgh (5-4): W 28-21 vs. No. 22 Notre Dame

This week: vs. North Carolina

Pittsburgh gave Notre Dame an early welcoming to the ACC. The Panthers won the turnover battle, 3-0, and held the ball for a whopping 36:33, even though the Irish out-gained them by nearly 100 yards.

BYU (6-3): L 27-17 at No. 24 Wisconsin

BCS ranking: Fell far among those receiving votes in the AP poll, still receiving three points, one more than Notre Dame

This week: vs. Idaho State

BYU's offense struggled to find a groove against Wisconsin, as the Badgers held dual-threat quarterback Taysom Hill to 19-of-41 passing and only 53 yards rushing. Without the dynamic Hill running wild, the Cougars turned to running back Jamaal Williams, who managed 76 yards on 14 carries.

Wisconsin led 20-3 before two Hill-to-Cody Hoffman touchdown passes in the second half.

Stanford (8-1): W 26-20 vs. No. 3 Oregon

BCS ranking: Rose one spot to No. 4

This week: at USC

David Shaw's defense held the high-flying Ducks scoreless into the fourth quarter, and the offense rushed its way to a 26-0 lead. Stanford emphasized its ground game, running for 274 yards compared to just 103 through the air.

Running back Tyler Gaffney led the way with 45 carries for 157 yards while quarterback Kevin Hogan added 57 yards on eight carries.
