On November 19, the Notre Dame staff extended a handful of offers in the 2022 class. Among them was Elijah Brown, a 6-5, 230-pounder out of Huber Heights (Ohio) Wayne. The junior tight end is a standout player on both sides of the ball, leading to Notre Dame taking notice and offering him.
The Notre Dame staff didn't offer Brown at tight end as every other school on his offer list has so far, rather opting to offer and recruit him as a defensive player.
“On Thursday, my head coach called me and told me to give Coach [Mike] Mickens from Notre Dame a call,” Brown explained. “He was the one that offered me and Notre Dame is offering me as a defensive end. They were the first team to offer me on defense.”
Brown did not play defense this past season for Wayne. He told BlueandGold.com that he will “most likely” play defensive end next season, along with tight end. He has been dominant at tight end during his high school career but appears to be open to moving positions if it is the right fit.
