As I was scrolling through Twitter last Tuesday night, I noticed that Texas offered class of 2023 quarterback Tad Hudson from Cornelius, N.C. According to the rising sophomore’s Rivals profile, Hudson holds 10 scholarship offers already.
Notre Dame started the process of evaluating passers in the 2023 class several months ago, but has not offered any yet, which is more than understandable.
But what came to mind when I saw Hudson announce his offer was there are quarterback prospects in the 2023 class already receiving big-time scholarship offers — while Notre Dame has yet to offer even one in the 2022 class.
Texas has offered a pair of rising junior quarterbacks. In looking at other Midwest powers, Michigan has dished out 10, Michigan State has five and Ohio State has extended three quarterbacks in the 2022 class.
Interestingly enough, Clemson hasn’t offered a single 2022 prospect, regardless of position. If there is a school that can pull off that strategy, it is Dabo Swinney’s Tigers.
Notre Dame has shown interest in a handful of top quarterbacks in the 2022 class. Fort Branch (Ind.) Gibson Southern’s Brady Allen, who ranks as a four-star recruit in Rivals’ initial top 100 in the 2022 class, has visited Notre Dame multiple times, including last year’s Irish Invasion camp. He is a prospect Fighting Irish fans ask often about.
