Notre Dame is hard at work trying close out its 2018 recruiting class, and the next month will be vital to the finish.

On Jan. 19, New Orleans McDonogh 35 three-star wide receiver Lawrence Keys will take an official visit to Notre Dame, and the Irish are high on his list.

Keys has heard a lot about Notre Dame from several different angles, and said he’s looking forward to seeing South Bend for himself.

“I want to see everything,” Keys said. “That will be my first time experiencing it, and everybody tells me that it’s a wonderful place to be and it’s beautiful up there, so I’m just ready to get up there.”

A key cog in Keys’ Irish recruitment so far has been wide receivers coach DelVaughn Alexander, who conducted an in-home visit with the New Orleans talent on Monday.

According to Keys, that visit and the conversation during it went well.

“It was good,” Keys told Blue & Gold Illustrated. “He was just telling about the whole recruiting thing, and we were just talking football.”

For Keys, who is also heavily considering Houston and LSU, honesty in the recruiting process is crucial.

Luckily for Notre Dame, Keys said Alexander has been as truthful with him as possible during his Irish recruitment.

“One thing I like about Coach Alexander is he gives you the facts,” Keys said. “He tells the truth about everything how it will be if I come there. He just keeps it real.’

Notre Dame remains a major player for Keys, and his trip to campus next month will be a huge part of his recruitment.

Adding another wide receiver to the fold in 2018 is an important goal, even more so now with the de-commitment of three-star receiver Geordon Porter.
