Kevin Austin, a three-star 2018 wide receiver out of Coconut Creek (Fla.) North Broward, recently told BGI that Notre Dame is in his top eight.

Austin didn't specify the other seven teams, but has mentioned that Notre Dame is one of the team that stands out among his 30 offers.

Rex Nottage, Austin's head coach at North Broward, said that based on what he knows about Austin's recruitment, Notre Dame would make sense.

"He’s looking for academics, and an opportunity to play football of course," Nottage said. "Those are the things he’s looking for in a school, and that’s what has got him excited to look at Notre Dame."

Austin has been a hot commodity in the recruiting world as of late, having received 10 offers since August, including Ohio State, Michigan, Florida and Oregon.

According to Nottage, the Florida talent hasn't let the attention go to his head.

"He's been very humble about it," Nottage said, adding that the Notre Dame offer was one Austin couldn't have been more thrilled with. "He’s honored, excited and impressed with the offer."

So, the interest is there for Austin and Notre Dame.

He has built a strong relationship with running backs coach Autry Denson, and is hoping to visit South Bend over the summer.

If things were to go Notre Dame's way on this one, Nottage said the Irish would be getting a clutch wide receiver who thrives under pressure.

"He’s an extremely hard worker," Nottage said. "Kids gravitate to him. He’s a winner, but most of all, he’s a playmaker. He wants the ball in his hands when the game is in the clutch. He craves that."

Austin is rated by Rivals as the No. 71 receiver in the class of 2018 and the No. 66 player in the state of Florida.

As a junior, Austin had 43 catches for 713 yards and 12 touchdowns, as well as nine carries for 118 yards and one touchdown.

After the season, he was named to the Orlando Sentinel's All-State Class 4A Football Team.
