Notre Dame Offers Texas DE Joseph Ossai

Adding pass rushers was a major focal point for the Irish staff as it closed out the 2017 cycle and it will continue to be with the focus solely on the current junior class.

Notre Dame is off to a good start on the defensive line with Jayson Ademilola and Justin Ademilola already in the fold, but the class is still missing a playmaker on the edge. The staff will search the country in hopes of landing a player who provides the ability to create havoc in the backfield.

The Irish added another target to the board Thursday afternoon that fits the description in Conroe (Texas) Oak Ridge defensive end Joseph Ossai.

The 6-4, 210-pound Ossai also holds offers from Texas, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Nebraska, Northwestern, Arkansas and Baylor, among others.

BlueandGold.com caught up with Ossai earlier this week as the three-star talent had been hearing from the Irish staff.

“I’ve watched them for years,” Ossai said about Notre Dame. “And every time I watch them they win — I like winning. Plus they’re a Catholic school.”

Ossai is ranked as the No. 53 player in Texas and the No. 14 weakside defensive end in the country by Rivals. He finished his junior season with 46 tackles, 10 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks.

Stay tuned to BlueandGold.com for future updates on Ossai and his thoughts on landing the offer.
