Notre Dame plans to return to the same well in South Florida. At least that's what one of the latest scholarship offers suggests.

The Irish extended a bid to Palm Beach Gardens High three-star safety Amari Carter on Thursday. Carter is the former teammate of current Notre Dame linebacker Te'Von Coney and safety Devin Studstill, who both stared at the Palm Beach Gardens before inking with the Irish.

"It means a lot," Carter told Blue & Gold Illustrated in a message. "Being able to say you hold an offer from such a prestigious school is big."

Carter, who is ranked by Rivals.com as the No. 31 safety in the country, played opposite of Studstill this past season in Gardens' secondary. While Studstill — who enrolled at Notre Dame last month — garnered much of the attention from college coaches, it was Carter who totaled 55 tackles and three interceptions.

"He can do it all," Palm Beach Gardens head coach Rob Freeman said. "He's versatile and isn't afraid to hit."

Carter said that he has no leaders when asked if any schools were standing out, but added that he likes what he has heard about the Irish thus far from his former teammates.

"Me and [Devin Studstill] have actually got pretty close being on the same team, and with [Tevon Coney] he was the leader of the team all of the years that he was here, so I want to kind of follow in his footsteps," Carter said. "The relationships I have with those two are good, and they have told me a lot of good things about Notre Dame."

The 6-2, 180-pound Carter also holds offers from West Virginia, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Pittsburgh and N.C. State. He doesn't have immediate plans to visit South Bend, but a trip could be in the works. Notre Dame has also offered Gardens Rivals100 linebacker Vandarius Cowan — who is committed to Florida State — but visited campus last summer for the Irish Invasion. The Irish are evaluating Gardens three-star offensive tackle Jerry Drake, as well.
