Lawrenceville (Ga.) Central Gwinnett cornerback Donte Burton is the latest player in the class of 2018 to earn an offer from Notre Dame.

Nebraska, Oklahoma State, WisconsinKansas State, Louisville, Minnesota and others.

Following the de-commitment of Rivals100 CB Kalon Gervin, the Irish coaching staff has had to return to square one after not landing a cornerback in the class of 2017 and having none in the fold for 2018.

Burton, a one-time North Carolina commit, competed at the Rivals Three Stripe Camp on April 23, and was named a top defensive performer at the event.

Here's a tidbit from the top performers wrap up from Rivals analysts Rob Cassidy, Chad Simmons and Woody Wommack

"Burton was easy to spot wearing the camouflage sweatpants in the rain and that was good, because he had a good day in coverage. He is a very feisty cornerback who played with a lot of confidence. He is not the biggest in stature, but he played bigger and he was able to knock some passes down."
