Notre Dame Offer Surprises Georgia LB Azeez Ojulari

Over the past week or so Marietta (Ga.) 2018 linebacker Azeez Ojulari has exploded on the recruiting trail.

It started March 31 when offers from Oklahoma and South Carolina rolled in. From then to April 7 offers from Alabama, Auburn, South Carolina, Virginia Tech and Tennessee have rolled in.

Notre Dame threw its hat into the mix April 6 which surprised the three-star talent.

“The offer mean a lot,” Ojulari told Blue & Gold. “It’s a big offer. I was very excited. I like them I just need to visit to see everything.

“It caught me off guard. The feeling was great.”

The 6-foot-3, 222-pounder was offered by defensive line coach Mike Elston.

“He said he really liked my film and how I play and would like to build a relationship with me get me on campus to visit,” Ojulari explained. “He told me how a defense end from Georgia that played for Notre Dame is in the NFL draft this year.

“I feel like our relationship is going to be good.”

Ojulari doesn’t have a date, but plans to visit South Bend over the summer to get an in-depth look at the Irish program. He said he is “very interested” in Notre Dame and rated the offer a ‘9’ out of 10.

“It’s a great school with big-time football,” Ojulari said of Notre Dame. “I’m looking for a place where I can fit and can excel in the classroom and on the field. A place that feels like home.”

So far this spring Ojulari has been to Clemson, Alabama, Georgia and Auburn. He also participated in The Opening Atlanta regional in March and recorded a 4.7 40-yard dash, 37-inch vertical and 4.32 shuttle.

Ojulari described himself as a fast and versatile player who plays hard and has a “passion for the game.” During his junior season, he recorded 94 total stops, 10 tackles for loss and six sacks according to MaxPreps.
