Ocoee (Fla.) defensive back Lovie Jenkins admits that he didn’t see the offer from Notre Dame coming.
The 6-foot-1, 180-pound athlete already held a handful of solid, respectable offers early in his recruiting process, but then the Notre Dame offer came on Friday and shook up his recruitment in a big way.
“Notre Dame kind of came out of the blue,” Jenkins said at the Rivals 3 Stripe Camp on Sunday. “They hit me up on Twitter and asked for my transcript and everything. They said I had good grades and loved the way I play. Coach [Terry] Joseph, the defensive backs coach, called me and chopped it up for about 20 minutes before he even got to the offering part.”
Jenkins has a high view of Irish safety coach Terry Joseph after their conversation.
“I like him. I like him a lot,” said Jenkins. “He wanted to get to know me and get to know my personal life. He explained some things about Notre Dame and their academics.”
