Notre Dame Football Announces A Player Has Tested Positive For COVID-19
Notre Dame had one football player test positive for COVID-19 as of Monday morning, the school said in a statement.
The player was the only person to test positive among 91 athletes and 50 football staff members that were given tests after the team reported to campus last week. He is in isolation, is asymptomatic and his parents have been notified.
Additionally, four players are in self-quarantine after contact tracing determined they were around the player who tested positive. Those four are asymptomatic as well.
Four players tested positive for COVID-19 antibodies.
Notre Dame begins voluntary workouts Monday. Its summer activity program is split into two-week phases and new tests will be administered at the beginning of every phase, head coach Brian Kelly said earlier in June.
Players are staying at the on-campus Morris Inn for the summer until the fall semester starts Aug. 10.
