Pride committed picked Notre Dame over Clemson, Virginia Tech and North Carolina last month.

Notre Dame cornerback commit Troy Pride’s rise from a relative unknown prospect to one of the South’s top defensive backs continued on Wednesday. The Greer (S.C.) High prospect earned his fourth star from Rivals.com, which came just four days after he was named defensive MVP of the Blue-Grey All-American Bowl.

“He’s a guy with a lot of skills, size, speed and, of course, the length that defensive back coaches are looking for right now,” Rivals.com recruiting analyst Woody Wommack said after watching Pride at the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas. “He was great at predicting where the players are going to be and guessing routes, and more importantly making a play on the ball.”

Pride became the 12th Notre Dame commit to be tabbed by Rivals.com as a four-star prospect this cycle. The bump also comes just one day after Cleveland St. Ignatius offensive tackle Liam Eichenberg moved inside the final Rivals250 rankings.

“I want to be the best cornerback in Notre Dame’s class,” Pride said the day he committed. “I want to be the best to come out of Notre Dame. I have huge goals.”

The 6-0, 165-pound Pride committed to Notre Dame last month after picking the Irish over Clemson, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Tennessee and Ole Miss. The one time Virginia Tech commit hosted Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly for an in-home visit on Tuesday.
