High school football season is here, and several Notre Dame commits and targets will be in action Friday night.
Several Notre Dame commits and targets will kickoff their senior and junior seasons and Blue & Gold Illustrated provides a quick guide to which players are in action and their opponent.
Below you will find the individual game listed followed by which Irish commit or target is participating in that particular contest.
August 25
Notre Dame Commits
Marietta (Ga.) Lassiter (1-0) vs Marietta (Ga.) Pope (0-0) - Irish safety commit Derrik Allen will look to move to 2-0 on the year after a win over Alpharetta (Ga.) Johns Creek. In the win, Allen recorded more than 10 tackles, three pass break ups and an interception.
Brentwood (Tenn.) High (1-0) at Nashville (Tenn.) Cane Ridge (1-0) - Notre Dame offensive tackle commit Cole Mabry scored a rivalry win over Franklin (Tenn.) High in week one and is looking to move to 2-0 on the season. Cane Ridge posted a 12-1 record in 2016 and advanced to the quarterfinals of the Division 1 Class 5A Playoffs.
Sanford (N.C.) Lee County (1-0) at Holly Springs (N.C.) High (0-1) - Running back commit Jahmir Smith started off his senior season with a bang, rushing for 149 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries.
Coconut Creek (Fla.) North Broward (0-0) at Pembroke Pines (Fla.) High (0-0)- Wide receiver commit Kevin Austin will open up his senior campaign on the road. Austin caught 41 passes for 1,021 yards and 13 touchdowns and had 454 rushing yards and six touchdowns on 46 carries as a junior.
Maria Stein (Ohio) Marion Local (0-0) vs. Dayton (Ohio) Chaminade Julienne (0-0) - Offensive tackle commit John Dirksen will look to start off his senior year with a win against a team that posted a 7-4 mark in 2016.
Gurnee (Ill.) Warren Township (0-0) at Barrington (Ill.) High (0-0) - Wide receiver commit Micah Jones will begin his senior season Friday night and BGI will be on the scene. Barrington finished 2016 with a 9-3 record and advanced to the second round of the Class 8A Illinois Playoffs.
Temecula (Calif.) Great Oak (0-0) vs Romoland (Calif.) Heritage (0-0) - Linebacker commit Jack Lamb will start off his senior season with a tough matchup. Heritage went 11-1 in 2016 and advanced to the quarterfinals of Division 2 Playoffs.
Gibsonia (Pa.) Pine-Richland (0-0) vs Huber Heights (Ohio) Wayne (0-0) - Quarterback commit Phil Jurkovec will start off his final prep season on ESPN. Jurkovec and Pine-Richland will host a Wayne team that went 11-1 in 2016 and features four-star ATH Blue Smith and three-star weakside defensive end Alex Reigelsperger, a Kentucky commit.
Naples (Fla.) Gulf Coast (0-0) at Naples (Fla.) Lely (0-0) - Tight end commit George Takacs will start off his senior season looking to avenge a 40-27 loss to Lely that began his junior year.
Erie (Pa.) Cathedral Prep (0-0) vs Pittsburgh Central Catholic (0-0) - Linebacker commit Matthew "Bo" Bauer will kickoff his senior season against a Central Catholic that finished 2016 with a 14-2 record and advanced to the Pennsylvania Class AAAAAA State Championship. Cathedral Prep is in search of back-to-back Class 4A state championship.
Notre Dame Targets
Baltimore Gilman (0-0) vs Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga (0-0) - Notre Dame defensive end target Thomas Booker will begin his senior season against a Gonzaga team that finished 2016 with an 8-3 record.
Milpitas (Calif.) High (0-0) vs Fremont (Calif.) American (0-0)- Cornerback target Tariq Bracy will begin his senior season at home against an American team that posted a 4-6 record last season.
Loganville (Ga.) High (0-0) vs Monroe (Ga.) Monroe Area (0-0) - Cornerback target Donte Burton will open up his final prep season against a Monroe Area team that went 3-7 in 2016.
Anaheim (Calif.) Servite (0-0) at Norco (Calif.) High (0-0) - Safety target Julius Irvin will start off his senior season against a Norco team that posted a 7-5 record in 2016 and advanced to the quarterfinals of the CIF Division Two Playoffs.
New Orleans McDonogh (0-0) vs New Orleans Elanor McMain (0-0) - Wide receiver target Lawrence Keys will begin his senior season against an Elanor McMain team that went 5-8 in 2016.
San Jose (Calif.) Valley Christian (0-0) at Manteca (Calif.) High (0-0) - Safety target D'Angelo McKenzie will kickoff his senior season against a Manteca team that went 12-2 in 2016.
Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei (0-0) at La Puente (Calif.) Bishop Amat (0-0) - Offensive guard target Chris Murray and Mater Dei will start 2017 with a matchup against a Bishop Amat team that posted a 7-4 record in 2016.
Conroe (Texas) Oak Ridge (0-0) vs Pearland (Texas) Dawson (0-0) - Defensive end target Joseph Ossai and Oak Ridge will open their 2017 campaign with a matchup against a Dawson team that went 8-3 in 2016.
Blairstown (N.J.) Blair Academy (0-0) vs. Havertown (N.J.) Haverford - Defensive end target Jayson Oweh and Blair Academy will kickoff 2017 against a Haverford team that posted a 7-5 record in 2016.
Tampa (Fla.) Berkeley Prep (1-0) vs Clearwater (Fla.) Central Catholic (0-0) - Offensive tackle target Nick Petit-Frere will look to move to 2-0 on his senior season.
Etiwanda (Calif.) High (0-0) vs. Fontana (Calif.) Summit (0-0) - Wide receiver target Geordon Porter will look to start off 2017 with a win over a summit team that posted a 10-2 record in 2016.
Salt Lake City East (1-0) at South Jordan (Utah) Bingham (1-0) - Offensive line target Sam Taimani is looking to move to 2-0 on his senior season against a Bingham team that went 11-0 in 2016 and captured the Utah Class 5A State Championship.
Norcross (Ga.) Wesleyan (1-0) vs Atlanta Business Engineering Science (1-0)- Tight end target Tommy Tremble is looking to move to 2-0 on his senior season.
Mission Viejo (Calif.) High (1-0) vs Murieta (Calif.) Vista Murieta (0-0) - Cornerback target Chris Mitchell and Mission Viejo will try to move to 2-0 on the season against a Vista Murieta team that posted a 9-3 record in 2016.
Mishawaka (Ind.) Penn (0-1) vs Merrillville (Ind.) High (0-1) - Local safety target Paul Moala and his Penn team will look to get their first win of the season against a Merrillville team that went 5-6 in 2016.
August 26
Indianapolis Cathedral (0-1) at Detroit Martin Luther King (0-0) - Running back commit Markese Stepp will look to rebound from a season opening loss against Louisville St. Xavier with a matchup against Detroit powerhouse King. Stepp rushed for 203 yards and three touchdowns on 18 carries in week one. King posted a 12-2 record in 2016 and captured the Michigan Division Two Championship.
