Notre Dame Basketball Hands Out Its First 2022 Offer

Notre Dame’s basketball coaching staff spent the first day they were allowed to reach out to class of 2022 players at work on the recruiting trail.

The Fighting Irish reached out to several players handed out their first 2022 offer Monday morning to four-star center Donovan Clingan out of Bristol (Conn.) Central High School. Clingan is 7-0 and 240 pounds and ranked as the No. 47 overall player in the class.

Notre Dame joined Rutgers in offering Clingan Monday. Boston College, Connecticut, Georgetown, Iowa, Massachusetts, Providence and Syracuse have already offered him. He began garnering interest and offers late last summer.

Several other 2022 players heard from Notre Dame on Monday as well. According to Stockrisers, the Irish reached out to five-star Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy point guard Jaden Bradley, the No. 8 overall player in the class. Stockrisers also reported Notre Dame reached out to two other top-75 recruits: Hyattsville (Md.) DeMantha Catholic point guard Rodney Rice and Sunrise Christian (Kan.) High guard Gradey Dick.

Dick is Rivals’ No. 32 overall player in 2022, and Rice is ranked No. 64. Texas A&M and Northwestern offered Dick Monday, while Rice picked up offers from Rutgers, Connecticut, LSU and Maryland.

According to Prep Hoops Illinois, Notre Dame also talked with Glen Ellyn (Ill.) Glenbard West forward Braden Huff and Yorkville Christian (Ill.) guard Jaden Schutt.

Schutt is a three-star prospect and the No. 146 overall player in the class. Northwestern, Iowa and Nebraska offered him Monday, joining a list that had contained mostly mid-major schools. Huff is not ranked, but added offers from Northwestern and Creighton Monday.

Notre Dame made contact with The Haverford (Pa.) School guard Jameel Brown, according to his AAU team, joining a host of high-majors that reached out to him Monday.
