Four-star junior offensive tackle Tommy Kraemer made a verbal commitment to the Irish on Saturday, choosing them over Northwestern and Ohio State. Kraemer hails from Cincinnati, where he stars for Elder High School.
“Proud to announced my commitment to the University of Notre Dame,” Kraemer posted on Twitter before the Stanford game kicked off.
Kraemer pledge to Notre Dame while in South Bend for a second unofficial visit this season. He made the trek last month when the Irish beat Michigan as well.
Other programs to have offered include Boston College, Duke, Indiana, Cincinnati, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan, Penn State, Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Wake Forest. Virginia and Wisconsin also expressed interest, among others.
Kraemer sits at No. 20 overall in the latest Rivals100 for the Class of 2016 and is rated the No. 3 offensive tackle prospect nationally.
Elder is the same high school program that produced former Notre dame tight ends Kyle Rudolph and Alex Welch. Rudolph is now with the Minnesota Vikings in the NFL while Welch is finishing up his collegiate eligibility at Miami (Ohio).
