Kinlaw dismissed by Kelly

Notre Dame's defensive backfield is down a man.
Cornerback Rashad Kinlaw has been dismissed from the football team, head coach Brian Kelly announced on Friday morning. The rising sophomore took a red shirt last season and had been working with the reserves this spring, slotted behind KeiVarae Russell, Cole Luke, Devin Butler and Jalen Brown. He faced incoming competition from Cody Riggs and Nick Watkins this fall.

"I dismissed him from the program," Kelly said. "From a football standpoint, he didn't live up to the rules within our program."
Kelly was unclear if Kinlaw remained a student at the University.
Kinlaw spent last season on the scout team, including work at quarterback, a position he played at Absegami High School in New Jersey.
A former three-star prospect, Kinlaw came to Notre Dame after committing following a junior day visit during spring practice. He suffered season-altering injuries during his junior season and after his senior year at Absegami, both severe leg injuries.
Kinlaw is the first member of Notre Dame's 24-man freshman class, which ranked third nationally on Rivals.com, to depart the program.
