Things got a little heated for Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly on the sidelines Saturday.
With the Irish trailing Temple late in the third quarter, Kelly was spotted by ABC cameras getting into an altercation with assistant strength and conditioning coach David Grimes following a pass interference call that went against Notre Dame.

Twitter and other social media platforms quickly speculated about what led to Kelly's shove, and the head man explained after the game that there was a reason he wanted to the former Notre Dame wide receiver.
"David was going to get us a 15-yard penalty, so I had to control the sideline," Kelly said. "I wasn't going to let that happen. He got a little too close and I backed him up out of the way to make sure that we didn't get a 15-yard penalty."

Notre Dame senior defensive tackle Sheldon Day was seen restraining Grimes, who was voted a team captain for the Irish back in 2008. Director of football strength and conditioning Paul Longo was also involved in breaking things up.
Kelly didn't shed much more light on the situation.
Notre Dame ended up rallying to beat the Owls, 24-20, at Lincoln Financial Field. The Irish tied a season-high with eight penalties for 81 yards.
