Fort Worth (Texas) Nolan Catholic four-star defensive end NaNa Osafo-Mensah became the jewel of Notre Dame's defensive class in 2019 when he committed to the Irish over Texas on May 19.

Although his decision came down to Notre Dame and Texas, Osafo-Mensah also held additional offers from Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma, USC, Florida, LSU, Michigan, TCU, Texas A&M, Arkansas, Baylor, Michigan State, Nebraska, Oregon and several others.

After an official visit to South Bend over the weekend of April 13, Osafo-Mensah gave a silent commitment to the Irish staff, but he took a final visit to Texas on May 4 before announcing his commitment to Notre Dame on May 19.

Osafo-Mensah has been solid in his commitment ever since, assisting with recruiting for the Irish and building strong bonds with his fellow commits, namely fellow defensive linemen Hunter Spears and Jacob Lacey
