Doughty has Irish in mind

Brandon Doughty isn't sure if he'll get an offer from Notre Dame, but he'd like it if he did.
The quarterback from Coconut Creek, Fla., has yet to collect an offer but said he expects to receive scholarships from Rutgers, Purdue, Florida Atlantic and Florida International in the next week.

And as Notre Dame continues its quarterback search for the 2010 class, a visit to North Broward High School to see the three-star prospect appears to be in the offing.
"I think they kind of wanna come out and watch me throw for now," Doughty said. "Hopefully they offer me. That would be wonderful. But right now I'm just trying to prove to the world that I can throw."
Doughty believed he'd spoken with Notre Dame assistant Bernie Parmalee, although the quarterback was unsure about the Irish coach's name.
If Notre Dame offered, the Irish would fit what Doughty is looking for in a program.
"I put God first in everything I do," Doughty said. "And that being a very religious school, that plays a big role in my decision. Getting a great education is another one. Those are two things Notre Dame really has sealed."
Aside from Notre Dame, Doughty said Tennessee, N.C. State, Duke, Virginia and Texas Tech have all shown interest. He said Tennessee has visited a North Broward a couple times.
