Devin Studstill Commits To Notre Dame

Notre Dame has landed one of its top overall targets on the board.
Palm Beach Gardens (Fla.) High three-star safety Devin Studstill gave a verbal committed to Notre Dame on Tuesday, picking the Irish over his other finalists: West Virginia, Miami, Texas and North Carolina.

Studstill, who is ranked by Rivals.com as the No. 43 athlete in the country, might not have the most stars next to his name, but he has been a priority for Notre Dame ever since the staff offered him a scholarship two years ago.
"He's everything you want in a player," Palm Beach Gardens High head coach Rob Freeman said.
The Irish first hosted Studstill for the Irish Invasion in June. He returned to campus four months later with his father — a West Virginia alum — for the USC game.
"It exceeded my expectations," Studstill said. "What stood out to me is what [Notre Dame] does after football."
Studstill becomes commit No. 20 in the class for the Irish and the second consecutive top prospect from Palm Beach Gardens to head north for school after four-star linebacker Te'von Coney enrolled at Notre Dame last January.
"He wasn't really pushing me," Studstill said when asked about Coney's role in his recruitment. "But he was just letting me know how it is straight up from a players prospective."
Studstill — like Coney — plans to enroll early at Notre Dame and compete right away for playing time.
The 6-1, 183-pound safety is ranked by Rivals.com as the No. 63 prospect in Florida. He was also named the No. 6 prospect in Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast by ESPN West Palm 106.3 FM in August.
Notre Dame holds commitments from six Florida prospects. If all six sign, that will mark the most in one class for the Irish since 1990.
