Notre Dame beat Michigan State for the second time in five months.

The first came back on Sept. 21, a 17-13 Notre Dame win on the field. The second happened early on Wednesday when three-star defensive tackle Daniel Cage faxed his Letter of Intent to South Bend rather than East Lansing.
Michigan State had been the heavy favorite until Cage landed a late offer from the Irish and made an abbreviated official visit on Thursday.
"(It was the) opportunity, not only as a football player, but getting that degree setting me up for life," said Cage about his decision to pick the Irish over the Spartans.
The 6-foot-3, 275-pound Cage drew interest from Notre Dame early in the recruiting process. The Irish never offered, instead focusing their attention on other defensive tackle prospects.
They renewed their interest in Cage after new defensive coordinator Brian VanGorder was hired on Jan. 13.
"They were about to offer me, but the defensive coordinator didn't really like me and then they got a new defensive coordinator from the New York Jets. He likes me a lot," Cage told Irish Illustrated on Jan. 28. "They got back interested in me and they ended up offering me about two weeks ago."
Cage fit a one-day visit to Notre Dame in before his trip to Missouri last weekend.
In Cage, the Irish add depth to a position of need.
They also add a big skill player to the lineup.
Cage was the second signed letter of intent into the Notre Dame football offices on Wednesday morning.
As a senior, Cage posted 36 tackles and six sacks.
