During an April 23 unofficial visit that came together at the last minute, Davis-Swain committed to Notre Dame after meeting Irish defensive line coach Al Washington following the Blue-Gold Game. Davis-Swain participated in a Rivals camp series event in Indianapolis the next day, which made a trip to South Bend logical for the family.

Davis-Swain then returned to Notre Dame to participate in a camp session June 11 and for the Clemson game Nov. 5. However, a desire remained to visit other schools. Since his Notre Dame commitment, Davis-Swain reported offers from Cincinnati, Kansas, Southern California and Wisconsin. He holds 21 total scholarship offers.

With the hole that Davis-Swain's decommitment created in the 2024 class, Notre Dame will look to fill it with one of its nine other scholarship offers to junior strongside defensive ends. The Irish still have another defensive line commit in 2024, in four-star prospect Owen Wafle.

Notre Dame still has six other players committed in the 2024 class, including CJ Carr, Karson Hobbs, Jack Larsen, Peter Jones and Cam Williams. The class now ranks No. 3 behind LSU and Georgia in the 2024 team rankings.

Davis-Swain was the first 2024 recruit to announce a commitment to the Irish.
