West Bloomfield (Mich.) High 2019 safety Lance Dixon got his first taste of game day in South Bend this past weekend when Notre Dame hosted the Georgia Bulldogs.

The three-star junior enjoyed the chance to experience the atmosphere inside Notre Dame Stadium during an anticipated matchup.

“It was an overall good experience,” Dixon said to Blue & Gold Illustrated. “They treated us well and they played a good game … They took us on a quick tour and had us weigh in before they had us walk the team in. I got to speak with the recruitment coordinators and a couple more coaches.”

Dixon was already somewhat familiar with the Irish program, so seeing a game in-person was the highlight of the trip for the 6-foot-2, 193-pounder.

“It was a good game experience and even after they lost the fans were still there to sing the fight song,” Dixon explained. “The coaches want to see me up there again sometime and they were nice people.

“I already knew Notre Dame was a big school and it was nice to go up there and visit. They’re a national program and that’s always good.”

A return visit to Notre Dame is on the mind of Dixon. He is eyeing a few more trips to other programs this fall.

“I’m definitely going on more visits this year,” Dixon explained. “Don’t know where to yet. Notre Dame would definitely be a place I want to visit again.”

Dixon’s recruitment is off to a good start as he holds offers from NC State, Kentucky, Iowa State, Temple, Purdue, Western Michigan, Central Michigan, Toledo and Akron so far. Dixon currently ranks as the nation’s No. 20 safety in the 2019 class.

“I feel like I have the ability to take your favorite slot receiver, tight end or running back completely out of the passing game,” Dixon said of his game. “And still have the size and speed to control my side of the field on the running game.”

Dixon will be a name to watch moving forward to monitor Notre Dame's interest as his process progresses.
