Notre Dame hosted West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade 2019 linebacker Blake Antzoulatos on an unofficial visit on Friday, and the Irish made a big impression.
Antzoulatos, a three-star prospect, said his experience at Notre Dame was unlike any other visit he’s taken.
“I got to go around the campus and talk to a bunch of the coaches,” he said. “It was great to get to do that with my family. It was a great experience and something I’ll never forget.”
According to Antzoulatos, Notre Dame has been in contact with him almost a month now, and his main communication has been with new defensive coordinator Clark Lea.
Meeting Lea on Friday, Antzoulatos said, was an exciting experience.
“He’s a great coach and you can definitely tell he loves what does,” Antzoulatos noted, adding that he was thrilled to hear the news of Lea’s promotion. “He deserves it and I’m excited.”
During the visit, Antzoulatos also met with special teams and recruiting coordinator Brian Polian, who reportedly did a great job explaining what Notre Dame is all about.
“He broke down what Notre Dame is and the history behind it,” Antzoulatos said. “He really sold Notre Dame to me and my family.”
Though he left the visit without an offer from the Irish, Antzoulatos said the coaching staff told laid out a plan for him to get one down the road.
“They said they like my film,” Antzoulatos said. “Me coming out to see the school was definitely a step in the right direction, and we just need to stay in close contact.”
Currently, Antzoulatos holds offers from California, Colorado State, Nevada and Oregon State, but If Notre Dame eventually joins that list, the Irish should be a top contender for the California talent.
“It would mean the world,” Antzoulatos said of the possibility of an offer. “Notre Dame is a great school with great history.”
