USA Today released its High School Football All-State teams on Wednesday, and there was plenty of Notre Dame flavor on the lists.

Of the 21 players who signed with the Fighting Irish last week, 12 received first-team honors and one was named a second-team performer.

The Irish pulled off impressive hauls in several different states in the 2018 class, arguably none more impressive than in Pennsylvania. Gibsonia (Pa.) Pine-Richland quarterback Phil Jurkovec and Erie (Pa.) Cathedral Prep linebacker Bo Bauer both received first-team honors, plus Jurkovec was named the state’s Offensive Player of the Year while Bauer was tabbed as the Defensive Player of the Year.

Two other Irish signees received Defensive Player of the Year honors to go along with first-team accolades — Farmington Hills (Mich.) Harrison linebacker Ovie Oghoufo in Michigan and Mishawaka (Ind.) Penn safety Paul Moala in Indiana.

In New Jersey, Notre Dame signed three USA Today All-State players in rover Shayne Simon (first team), defensive tackle Jayson Ademilola (first team) and defensive end Justin Ademilola (second team), all of whom played at Jersey City (N.J.) St. Peter’s Prep.

In the South, Notre Dame landed signatures from two first-team All-State players in Brentwood (Tenn.) High offensive tackle Cole Mabry and Marietta (Ga.) Lassiter safety Derrik Allen.

Notre Dame's most recent commitment and signee, Portland (Ore.) Tigard wide receiver Braden Lenzy, was named to the first team in Oregon.

In the Midwest, two more Notre Dame signees made the USA Today's first-team lists in Gurnee (Ill.) Warren Township wide receiver Micah Jones and Maria Stein (Ohio) Marion Local offensive tackle John Dirksen

Ridgely (Md.) North Caroline defensive tackle Ja’Mion Franklin was also named to the first team in Maryland.

Overall, the Irish had 13 signees land on the all-state teams with nine coming on defense and four on offense.
