Video: Five-Star Wide Receiver Impressed With Notre Dame’s Coaches

Los Angeles Hawkins five-star wide receiver Joseph Lewis got his second look at Notre Dame last week when his B2G seven-on-seven team visited South Bend while in the area for a tournament. Lewis told Blue & Gold Illustrated right after he left campus that the trip to Notre Dame was a “good” one ($).

Saturday, at the iLLSPEED competition in Baltimore, Lewis expanded more of the visit while speaking with Rivals.com’s Mike Farrell.

“What surprised me about Notre Dame was how the coaches approached me,” Lewis said. “[Associate head coach Mike Denbrock and head coach Brian Kelly] you know we had a good talk. It’s a very prestigious campus and a very prestigious program.

“They were just talking about how they would utilize me down the field more.”

Lewis is also considering Arizona, Michigan, Nebraska, Auburn and South Carolina, among others. USC — the local school — is a program that many believe holds the inside track to land Lewis, but he told Farrell that is not exactly the case.

The 6-2, 197-pound Lewis is ranked by Rivals.com as the No. 4 recruit in California, and the No. 4 wide receiver and No. 20 overall prospect in the country.
