Three-Star Texas Running Back Keaontay Ingram 'Speechless' Over Irish Offer

The 2017 recruiting cycle has come to an end, and it's time for the Notre Dame staff to turn their full attention to the 2018 cycle.

Over the coming months, more and more 2018 offers will be extended as Brian Kelly and his staff look for players to join the next class.

One of those offers was Carthage (Texas) High three-star running back Keaontay Ingram, who was offered by the Irish on Jan. 31

Ingram said the offer is an opportunity he couldn't be more thrilled for.

"It's extremely big," Ingram said. "The tradition there....to get something like that, I'm just speechless about having a chance to play football at such a high level."

Ingram said he started hearing from Notre Dame around a month ago, and has built a good rapport with running backs coach Autry Denson.

"He's a great guy," Ingram said, "Obviously he knows what he's doing."

The three-star said he has taken notice of Notre Dame over the past few years as they've sent several players to NFL.

"Notre Dame puts people on the league," Ingram said. "And it's not just running backs. They're all over the place."

As a junior, Ingram was incredibly productive for Carthage.

In 14 games, Ingram racked up 2,045 yards and 29 touchdowns.

Now that a Notre Dame offer has come, the Texas product said he will definitely be keeping an eye on the Irish.

"I have a lot of interest in the program," Ingram said. "They have great tradition and an outstanding academic program as well."
