They Said It
Rivals Midwest recruiting analyst Josh Helmholdt: "I saw Nick in the state title game, and he's a very good high school player. But I want to see him be looser in the hips and a little more agile when changing direction. That's the one area of his game that separates him from the other top cornerbacks in the region.
"He's a good sized cornerback and that helps. A cornerback with length is able to battle with the bigger guys on the outside better. I think once he's to settle in at cornerback - he played a lot of running back in high school - then he'll be able to refine some of the areas he needs to work on. Once he does that then I think he could be an effective cornerback for Notre Dame.
"He could see some time on special teams, because physically he has good size. But he's not a guy who I would feel comfortable throwing out on an island as a freshman. He'll need to spend some time with the coaches and develop the finer points of the position."
Prep Football Report's Tom Lemming: "He's not getting a lot of publicity. He's not as good as Shaun Crawford yet, but he can run. It's a matter of more coaching, but he can be a sleeper in this group. Good instincts and a smart football player."
