They Said It
Rivals Midwest recruiting analyst Josh Helmholdt: "I saw him when he was a freshman and ran a 4.3 40-yard dash at a camp. I have known about him for a very long time, but he didn't get out to a lot of places or camp at many schools. So his stars didn't arrive until late in the process just because he wasn't very active on the recruiting trail. But there are no limitations here.
"He's built like a safety, but he absolutely has the top end speed and agility to play corner. I think he fits best as a cover safety who has the size to be an asset in run support. He's just a playmaker.
"I expect him to have a very productive career at Notre Dame. He checks off all the boxes from a physical standpoint, and he also has that 'it' factor to his game where he can step up and make that play that others aren't able to make.
"I think he can do whatever they need him to do. If they need him at strong safety, he can play strong safety. If they need a nickel corner, he can play nickel corner. If they get really low with injuries at boundary corner, he can go play boundary corner. He can do whatever they want him to do. I'm very high on Mykelti because of his skill set and versatility."
Prep Football Report's Tom Lemming: "Love him and a big catch. Notre Dame fans are forgetting about this kid who was the Indianapolis Player of the Year and makes play after play. Mike Elston did a great job in Indiana because all four players from there were heavily recruited. He's maybe 5-11, six-foot at best, but he is a playmaker who could play corner or safety, but they really need safeties."
