They Said It
Rivals Midwest recruiting analyst Josh Helmholdt: "I think he's a three-technique [lining up between the offensive guard and tackle] defensive lineman. I have seen a lot of Brandon over the years. I have seen him be very, very good, winning the defensive line MVP at the Columbus Rivals camp last spring, and I have seen Division III offensive lineman handle him pretty easily at the Best of Midwest Combine last winter.
"He's really up and down. He needs to become more consistent, and the key for that is pad level. If he can keep his pad level down and his first move isn't to stand up, that's when he's most effective. If he can do that, he gets a good push on the interior of the line, and he can get a good push with his hands.
"I'm not saying he can't be a zero-technique [playing over the center], but he's got decent length for the position which I think would suit him better for the three-technique.
"If we're getting the best Brandon Tiassum at Notre Dame, I think he's a three-technique who learns to get his pad level down, and he's able to use his speed and athleticism to get in seems and create penetration in the backfield."
Prep Football Report's Tom Lemming: "He can be a nose guard. He's a monster of a guy. He hasn't played against the very best teams in Indianapolis. Nobody wants to hear this, but he can be an outstanding offensive lineman and might be slightly better on offense. He can play tackle because he's about 6-5."
